Awards provide pay rates and conditions of employment such as leave entitlements, overtime and shift work, amongst other workplace related conditions.
Most modern awards relate to particular industries or occupations. There are currently 122 modern awards of general application.
A small number of enterprise and State reference public sector modern awards cover specific employers and their employees only.
These awards, with the National Employment Standards, provide a minimum safety net of terms and conditions of employment for all national system employees.
The Fair Work Commission is responsible for maintaining and reviewing the modern awards.

Awards update subscription services
The Fair Work Commission identified that some subscribers were unintentionally unsubscribed from My awards, our awards update subscription services, due to the network firewall configurations of some receiving organisations.
The issue has now been resolved.
